I am beyond thrilled to be back in the classroom with this adorable bunch of kiddos!!! While my friends are not new to this classroom, I am so we are going to take a few days to get to know each other, learn, grow and have a blast.
I adore the book, 'This School Year Will Be The Best,' by Kary Winters and Renee Andriania. The authors and illustrators do such a lovely job portraying all the excitement and wonders of the school year! We will explore everyday topics from circle time to show n' tell to making great friends. There might even be some imaginary ideas, as well (like each kiddo having their own thrown to sit on) :) This book gives us a great chance to talk about what we LOVE about school and what we are looking forward to!
As the kiddos are getting to know me and I am learning their styles, I thought it would be fun to work on a 'Letter of Our Name' project. We will have all different shaped pieces of paper (circle, square, triangle, etc.) and the kiddos can create their own masterpieces!
In addition, there will be a lot of talk about how our classroom is a 'team'! We are a group that works together and loves the fun and learning that can take place by being a great friend and team member. To kick start off this idea, we will take a few moments building our Classroom Snowman. Each kiddo will have a paper plate with their name on it and they will be able to add it to our Class Snowman. We will talk about how it is no fun to have a tiny snowman with no team members. Yet, when we all add our name, we have an awesome and amazing Class Snowman!
Stay warm and cozy!
