Romans 15: 13 NIV
13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
This is my kick off blog post and I am excited to start this new journey. Like I do with most things in life, this website began by jumping in before thinking through the entire end result (thank goodness God gave me my husband so he can long-term plan)! I had to create a website for one of my classes at Gwynedd Mercy College (working on my Masters in Education). I originally fulfilled the website assignment by checking off the basics and throwing together an 'acceptable' site that would meet grade requirements. I was ready to move on to make dinner, do laundry, lesson prep or most likely binge watch Netflix. However, I then saw a beautiful site created by one of my classmates and it hit me that I should be creating a website that would add value to myself, students and families at my school. So, I went back to the drawing board and figured out how to create something that I might at least want to take a peek at.
I added a blog section so that the parents of my students could see what we were doing in class each day. I found that creating my lesson plans on-line was a great way for me to look back, and reflect upon what went well and what had some opportunity for improvement. I also found a sense of fulfillment in being able to see what has been accomplished over the months. I have the amazing ability to only remember the not so great moments and forget about the good. So, when I have a day when I feel like I was not able to teach my kiddos to the level that I wanted, I try to take a moment and see all that was accomplished over the months. It helps me to take a step back and take a look at the big picture (again, not my strength).
I found that writing and capturing my moments in the classroom was very therapeutic for me. At the same time, sharing God's love with my little "nuggets" each day has brought me such a sense of fulfillment. I truly feel that God has called me to share his joy through the voice of children and my faith has become stronger through my time in the classroom. Since journaling my days at Upper Dublin Christian Nursery School has given me such reflection and introspection, I wanted to step out and open up this spot for chatting, venting, growing, laughing, crying or whatever may come along the way.
Sometimes I walk through life having God right by my side, and sometimes I forget that He is always the answer. I want to explore my journey in life, spread the good in people, and find the joy and peace in the Lord.
I'm Rachel Myers, a mom of 2, married to my college guy, former Corporate America gal that stayed home with the kiddos, and now am a preK teacher. This is my little spot to reflect and make it through my journey. Sometimes I lean on Christ and sometimes I forget. Along the way, I love finding inspiration from others, spreading the good in people and finding the joy in God !
