This week is all about P is for Pumpkins!
We already made our Pumpkin Muffins, which was a success!!!! I like to substitute a banana for the egg when baking in class with the students so we don't have to worry about any raw egg issues. We passed around the mussy banana in a plastic bag so the kids could feel and guess what it was! Everybody got turns adding the water, oil, banana and lots of lots of stirring. We of course added chocolate chips and topped them off with some sprinkles!!! They were a hit! I think they may have been a bigger hit than the Apple Turn Overs. Here's my secret... I used Trader Joe's Pumpkin Bread Mix and it is the BEST!!!! I stock up every season!
We also read 'The Little Old Lady Who Is Not Afraid of Everything' by Linda D. Williams. We were sure to add lots of hand motions and noises to the shoes, pants, shirt, gloves, top hat & more. This is always a fun read!
We also introduced the 'Happy Helper'! A student will get a turn each day to be the 'Happy Helper.' He/She will help me with the weather, calendar, lots of different tasks and will also be the Line Leader. The students are always very eager to see if they are the 'Helper' that day. I promise them that everybody will get several turns throughout the year!
We also had a fun Music Class with Ms. Linda where we all took turns dancing in the center of the circle among many other fun songs and playful learning experiences.
Next up for the week, we will be...
As a mom, I love to know what my children are discovering during their days and I am sure you do too! Stop by here anytime to see what fun & learning we are up to!
