In the spirit of Thankfulness, we have many more T projects, turkey crafts, thankful games, joyful music and love of God to enjoy in our room this week. We can not wait to welcome our grandparents and special friends on Wednesday, Nov 16th @ 11:15am. We have a fun treat and surprise planned for them!!!! I can not wait to meet them all!!!!!
On Tap for this Week...
How to Disquise a Turkey!!! This is such a cute project that is so exciting for the kiddos. I love to see the creative ideas that come back and the children LOVE to share their creations!!! Please, use anything you have from home (not crayons or markers) to disquise this little fellow so he does not get eaten on Turkey Day. Please return by Monday, Nov 14th!!! I can't wait!!!
We will be reading 'A Plump and Perky Turkey' by Teresa Baleman, which is always a great read to get ready for Thanksgiving!!!
Today we read 'We're Going on a Leaf Hunt' by Steve Metzger. I love all books from the 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' series. The kids had a blast acting out all of the tasks on our Leaf Hunt and we had to swim around our room, hop on stones to get across the river, walk through the deep, dark forest and much more!
We spent some time today preparing little tokens for our Grandparents/Special Friends that will be coming on Wednesday, Nov 16th @ 11:15am. I do not want to spoil the surprise, but I will say that socks and shoes came off and paint came out :) We are going to have such a good time. I can not wait!
Looking ahead, we are going to talk about all of the things that we are thankful for! Following are a few of our activities on tap for this week.
We had a happy, happy Halloween with lots of pumpkin fun. We each painted a pumpkin that will be coming home tomorrow, finished our P for Pumpkin Poster, made a monster pudding snack, read some Halloween fun and colored in some Halloween Sheets.
Before we move onto T for Thanksgiving, we are going to touch upon the fun book 'Caps for Sale' by Esphyr Slobodkina. Both of my kids always loved this book and couldn't wait to see what those tricky monkeys were up to. The students will help me act out this story and we have some cute crafts on deck to help us join in the fun!
We have gym, chapel and playground, as well!
Looking forward to a great Wednesday!
We continue to talk about Fall and the season of Autumn this week! We have had tons of fun activities and crafts with lots more to go!!! The kids just love spending time outside in this amazing weather and the amount of fall creations that they can make from play dough is astonishing! Following are some fun activities from our week.
On Monday, we got busy in the kitchen!!!! Our Apple 'Pies' (probably more like an Apple Turn Overs) turned out beautifully! We used Dough, Apples, Cinnamon, Butter & Sugar to create a tasty treat. I would say there was about a 50:50 split on those that LOVED their treat, and those that dug in with their Goldfish 1st! Again, our snack time is truly a wonderful experience. We often eat after coming in from outside. We use the bathroom, wash our hands, chant our fun prayer and then they are ready to relax and enjoy their meal and they are HUNGRY!!! I try not to rush this moment as some of the BEST stories come out during time. It truly is a wonderful sense of community!!!
We also filled our day with many other fun activities!
Up next for Wednesday, is a bit of this & that. Our days our so full that sometimes we do not get to all of our fun planned activities. So, Mrs. Racz & I want to play a little catch up!
We continue to have a great time with each other in class. The kids are getting to know their new friends and they are doing a great job helping others! We spent a lot of time talking about friendship and feelings.
You all should have received a 'Friendship Bug' to keep in your home.
Our friendship bug is individual and unique just like God made each of our classmates. He can be named, loved and moved around your home.
Our classroom will have a special Friendship Bug (which we will name together). We will keep an eye on him as he is known to move around our classroom. Whenever we see our Friendship Bug at school, church or home, we will know that we have a friend in Jesus and he is always by our side.
Next up.... Apple, Apples, Apples. Among our many fun activities, we will have an Apple Toss, Graph our Favorite Apple Color, Create an Apple Core Craft, Walk with Apples on our Head, and make mini Apple Pies to eat in class!!!!
Welcome back! The Rain did not stop us! We had lots of smiles again!!! The kids had a blast reading and learning all about germs. I hope they were able to bring home some of our new tips that we learned. We created our 'Germ Binoculars' and 'swabbed' the church for all the germs. They were then placed in our 'Germ Jar' where they are sure to stay. We will watch to see what transforms in our jar as the germs grow (I bet it won't be pretty, but at least they are away from us).
We also read 'The Day the Crayons Quit' by Drew Daywalt. The kids thought the crayons were a hoot, and that peach crayon....well..... In the spirit of the book, we put our art smocks on and painted a huge crayon our favorite color. We have a great guy to clean our church, and he has his work cut out for him when he comes to our room. I tell him that a sign of a great day, is a ton of mess and we accomplished that with our paint projects!!!!
Lots of Laurie Berkner Band was playing in the background. I can tell many of the kiddos have heard those songs before. We just had a fun, casual day of playing, learning & sharing in God's love. A true blessing to have these guys in my class!
A bit more on friendship and building our community in God's love. Then, we are onto Fall Apple Fun!!!!
Week number 2 and we got this! I'm so excited to get back into the classroom with our kiddies. On Monday, we are going to reconnect, spend a little more time talking about our likes and preferences. We are going to read, The Day the Crayons Quite by Drew Daywalt. Then, we are going to get our smocks on and paint a HUGE crayon that is our favorite color.
Since we are all back in school, it's that time of year when the germs come to visit. We are going to read a great book on germs and spend some time on ways to help keep our germs to ourselves. We will be 'swabbing' all through out our school to pick up any germs in places where they often hang (bathrooms, door handles, railings, etc). Once we have done an amazing job as 'Germ Detectives' we are going to throw all of them into our Germ Jar. We will keep an eye on that jar to see what happens inside. Stay tuned....
We had a GREAT 1st day of school!!!! There were many, many smiles in our classroom. It was a big first day for many of us so we took our time and enjoyed getting to know each other. Here is a touch of what we did.
Our 1st Day is Here!!!! Our Classroom is ready, supplies are stocked, snacks are replenished, teachers are rested and we are so ready to welcome your little ones into our spot of fun, discovering, learning and love of God.
During our 1st Days and Weeks of School, we will be talking about 'Building a Sense of Community'! We want our littlest ones to feel comfortable in themselves as well as valuing the differences among their friends. We are all God's children and he loves each and every one of us for who we are. We will be doing a series of activities to help us become comfortable in ourselves and with our new friends.
Here is a general schedule for our day.
As a mom, I love to know what my children are discovering during their days and I am sure you do too! Stop by here anytime to see what fun & learning we are up to!
